Architecture Scholarships

Architecture Scholarships

Mark Robbins, Dean of Syracuse University's School of Architecture is desperately seeking young men and women of color interested in pursuing a five year professional degree in Architecture. He says he's deeply committed to bringing diversity to his field and has scholarship money set aside to fully cover education costs for 10 students.

He says that Latino enrollment in the school has increased substantially, but it's harder to attract Blacks. Syracuse University's School of Architecture has a great reputation and this seems like a terrific opportunity, so please pass this on to everyone you know.

Students meet with the Princeton University's president and the school's dean of admissions âEUR" people who are able to offer guidance on the difficult decisions about college that high school students face. TASS

Once again we are seeking nominations for the TASS programs.

Please send us names of students you know who might want to apply to TASS.

Also, please forward this email to your contacts at high schools, youth centers, church networks, and colleagues.

TASS bright, motivated tenth-grade students with an interest in African

American studies or public health issues are encouraged to apply for a full scholarship to participate in one of three Telluride Association Sophomore Seminar (TASS) programs during the summer.  The TASSes are free, six-week seminar programs for promising high school students, co-sponsored by Telluride Association, Indiana University, and the University of Michigan.  At each TASS, 16 students live in a small  residence hall at the host university and participate in an academic seminar led by two college professors.  The seminars--two on topics in African American studies and one on public health issues--meet for three hours each weekday throughout the program.  The faculty ask students to  read carefully, consider controversial ideas from various perspectives, and express their ideas clearly in writing and discussion.  Outside the classroom, students attend guest lectures and cultural events on campus, visit museums and other local cultural sites, hone their public speaking skills, and forge what often become lifelong friendships with other students.  We seek applicants from around the country interested in engaging their peers in lively, thoughtful conversation, grappling with new and challenging ideas, and forming a close-knit community with a group of like-minded students.  Although two of the three the TASS seminars focus on topics in African American studies, applications from all interested high school sophomores are welcome.  Telluride covers complete program costs for all participants, including tuition, books, room & board, and facilities fees.  Travel scholarships are also available on request. Complete information about the TASS programs along with application materials can be downloaded from the Telluride website at:

http://www.tellurideassociation.org/TASSApply.html

Printed copies of these materials can also be requested by contacting the Telluride Association office.
